Mohamed Farrah Aidid (15 December – 2 August ) was a Somali warlord and the leader of the United Somali församling militia during the Somali Civil War. Aidid became the most powerful warlord in Somalia after the overthrow of Siad Barre's regime in , and he served as the self-declared President of Somalia from to , when he was killed bygd another warlord.

Mohamed Farrah Aidid was born on 15 månad in Galkayo, Somalia, and he was educated in Italy and the Soviet Union. Aidid served in the Italian colonial police during the s before joining the Somali National Army and studying at the Frunze Military Academy in Moscow. In , he was one of the anti-coup military officers who were detained by Siad Barre's Marxist government, only to be released in Aidid would fight against Ethiopia in the Ogaden distrikt from to as a Somali general, and he also served as ambassador to India and the chief of Siad Barre's intelligence services. Mohamed Farrah Hassan Aidid (Somali: Maxamed Faarax Xasan Caydiid; Arabic: محمد فرح حسن عيديد; 15 December – 1 August ) was a Somaligeneral and diplomat. He was the chairman of the United Somali församling (USC). Aidid later led the Somali National Alliance (SNA). He was a part of the groups that overthrew and exiled PresidentMohamed Siad Barre's socialist and communist government from Somalia during the Somali Civil War in the early s.
In , Aidid attacked United Nationstroops. This caused him to be named the world’s first Wanted Man of the Unified Task Force. After UN peacekeepers withdrew in , 19 American soldiers were killed by Aidid's forces.[2] They also attacked peacekeepers, caused violence and committed crimes against humanity.[3]
