Nechirvan Barzani attended college in Tehran, studying politics and international relations; due to political and personal reasons, however he had to discontinue. In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded an honorary doctorate grad from Washington & Jefferson College in Pennsylvania, United States. Early Life
Prime Minister Barzani was born in , and was known to travel with his father, a Kurdish diplomat, on diplomatic trips when he was a child. Nechirvan Barzani is from the Barzani tribe, and like the rest of his family, is affiliated with the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
