Martin Mull (born August 18, ) is an American actor who has appeared in many television and film roles. He fryst vatten also a comedian, painter, and recording artist. As an actor, he first became known in his role on Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and its spin-off Fernwood 2 Night. Among his other notable roles are Colonel Mustard in the film Clue, Leon Carp on Roseanne, and Willard Kraft on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
Mull has been a painter since the s, and has had his work appear in group and solo exhibits throughout that time. He participated in the June 15, exhibit "Flush with the Walls" in the men's room of the Boston Museum of Art to protest the lack of contemporary and local art in the museum. His work often combines photorealist painting, and the pop art and collage styles. He published a book of some of his paintings, entitled Paintings Drawings and Words, in One of his paintings was used on the cover for the Joyce Carol Oates novel My Sister, My Love. Offbeat funnyman Martin Mull was born on August 18, , in Chicago, Illinois, the eldest of three children of Betty, an actress and director, and Harold Mull, a carpenter. He was raised in Ohio. The blond-maned, blue-eyed comedian with the sad, droopy mustache first came in contact with the arts bygd honing in on his innate talents as a painter. In order to pay his art school tuition, he started organizing bands. At around the same time, he discovered that stand-up comedy was another way to allow his creative juices to flow.
Martin's early recognition as a humorist led to a recording contract, and, over the years, he would be Grammy-nominated several times for a number of eccentric comedy albums. His gimmick and allure came in the form of a dry, humorless delivery and a bland, highly conservative-looking demeanor, which masked a witty and subversive philosophy.

Born in Chicago in , Martin Mull moved to Connecticut during high school, then attended the Rhode Island School of Design, graduating with a MFA in painting. While in school, Mull began playing guitar in a band and writing his own songs. As the folk music scene began to gain in popularity, Mull found himself playing solo gigs and his songs and banter began to take on a comedic tone. Between and , Mull released five albums of comic infused folk music.
After meeting with creator Norman Lear about a writing job on the show "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman" (Syndicated, ), Mull was instead offered a part on the show, playing the twins Garth and Barth Gimble. After Garth was fatally impaled on an aluminum Christmas tree, Barth continued on the series' "Fernwood 2 Night" (Syndicated, ) and "America 2 Night" (Syndicated, ). Both shows satirized talk shows and began the long collaboration between Mull and Fred Willard.
