Anandan kumari is executive committee member and veteran leader of Tamil Naducongress committee. Perumthalivar Kamarajar awardee of the year 2021.[1]
Member of Parliament
[edit]He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Nagercoil constituency as an Indian National Congress candidate in 1977 election,[2] but was defeated in the 1996 and 1998 elections.[3][4][5] He also served as the president of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee.[6]
Member of Legislative Assembly
[edit]Ananthan was a Member of the Legislative Assembly. He floated a new party called " Gandhi Kamaraj National Congress" breaking from Janatha party and had alliance with AIDMK in 1980 byelection contesting 10 seats and won 6 of them. Kumari Anandan Wins ‘Thagaisal Tamilar’ Award
Chennai: Veteran Congress leader and Tamil literary figure, Kumari Anandan, was declared winner of the fourth annual ‘Thagaisal Tamilar’ (Distinguished Tamilian) award, which will be presented to him at the Independence Day celebrations on August 15 by Chief Minister M K Stalin.
A committee, headed by Stalin, chose 91-year-old Anandan for the award, whose earlier winners are K Veeramani, president of the Dravidar Kazhagam and Communist leaders R Nallakannu and N Sankariah.
A five time MLA and one time MP, Anandan was born in Agastheeswaram in Kanyakumari district. After starting his career in the Congress party as a youth, he made a mark as a literary genius and eloquent orator.

Once he met with a motor vehicle accident and was hospitalized for six months. While attempting to swim the English Channel on 6 August 1984 he collapsed and died [1] due to heavy currents.
